Michael Bisping will be having his first title defense against Dan Henderson at UFC 204 on October 8, 20166 in Manchester, England.
Bisping, who is the Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion, announced the rematch, the date and venue of a radio show interview on Thursday.
“Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping for the 185-pound middleweight title, October 8 from Manchester — live on pay-per-view. Do not miss it,” Bisping stated weeks after UFC president Dana White said that he is cooking a match-up between Bisping and Henderson.
In 2009, Henderson knocked out Bisping with a right hand at UFC 100. Henderson has said in interviews that his match-up against the UFC middleweight champion will be the final one in his UFC career. Henderson is just 2-3 in his last five fights and has struggled in the Octagon.
Seven years ago, the Bisping versus Henderson match-up was one of the main cards in the UFC event. Bisping was then the coach of the Team UK in The Ultimate Fighter while Henderson handled Team USA.
“A lot of people have been talking s–t about this matchup. A lot of people have been very excited about this matchup. Here’s the thing — for all these little (expletives) at 185, your Chris Weidman’s, your Jacare’s (Souza), your Rockhold’s — the fight is only eight weeks time,” Bisping stated to Fox Sports.
