Current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic has no doubt that he will be able to defend his title against challenger Alistair Overeem at UFC 203.

In a video posted by cleveland.com, the fighter shared his thoughts about his upcoming bout, and how he is confident that he will demolish the Reem.

“I’ve worked too hard to get here for this guy to take it away from me. When it comes next Saturday, the 10th, I’m going to beat the crap out of him and win this fight,” Miocic said in the video below.

“He (Overeem) is a hungry wolf. I’m a starving wolf. I want it way more than he does…. Even though I got the belt, I still want it more.”

But Overeem has his doubts about Miocic’s focus on their upcoming fight. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, the heavyweight fighter criticized how the current champ has been going to “several parties” and not focusing on his training.

“It’s all about whether he can stay focused,” Overeem said in his MMA Junkie interview, which takes place Sept. 10 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. “If you’re doing the appearances and the pool parties – because yes, we have seen Stipe at several of them. Not one, but several.”

As the Miocic video would suggest, though, the champ’s coaches and trainers paint a different story.

“Stipe doesn’t take time off. Not unlike a lot of fighter who spend a month partying around there,” shared Miocic’s grappling coach, Steve Kinas. “He (Miocic) was back in the gym three days after the last fight.”

Strength and conditioning coach Bobby Kaleal shares the same critique of Miocic stating that the champ’s “mindset is so focused” and “wants the belt for the city.”

Stipe Miocic will be defending his title in front of his hometown crowd of Cleveland on September 10.
