UFC Rumors: CM Punk expresses interest to fight in UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden?

CM Punk is very interested in making it into the fight card for UFC 205 which will also be the debut for UFC at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

If there is one thing that is sure with CM Punk, it is that he will fight inside the Octagon but the question is when? Rumors are swirling that Punk is very interested in making it into the fight card for UFC 205 which will also be the debut for UFC at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Punk told MMA Hour that it would be exciting to fight when the UFC debuts in New York, but he still does not know if it will be realistic for him to be on the fight card since many have been speculating that he would be pitted against Mickey Gall. Though no schedule has been set, since Punk has been advised by his doctors he would need surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back and that it needed a recovery period of four to six weeks.

“In my mind, that card at the (Madison Square) Garden would be a nice second fight. But, I don’t know how realistic that is because, again, I don’t want to say things people are going to take to heart,” Punk said.

With that into consideration, many have speculated that he will make his debut this summer and the Gall’s long wait will finally be over. The 24-year old Gall is a discovery by UFC president Dana White in his YouTube show and has already been impressive as he sports a 2-0 record as a professional mixed martial artist.

“4 every1 askin I hear Punk [CM Punk] and I r fighting late summer. I don’t have an official date. If I did I would tell ya. But we r for sure fighting,” Gall posted on Twitter as his answer to those who are constantly asking if the fight is ever to take place.

With Gall’s confidence, Punk just reminded his opponent that everyone has looked down on his skills and capabilities as a UFC fighter and when the time come that they will get it on Punk just assured fight fans that the night will end with an “upset.”

“I’ve learned from my past mistakes and I’m not going to say a date that everyone’s gonna get married to, and then I’m going to have to hear about how I’m never going to fight. I’m going to fight. It’s going to be this year…Don’t worry haters, I’m going to fight, it’s going to be f*****g fun and awesome, and you’re going to be real upset,” Punk added.

Aside from UFC 205, there have been rumors swelling that the Punk-Gall fight might also be staged at the United Center in Chicago as Punk has done a video together with NBA mascots Benny The Bull of the Chicago Bulls and Tommy Hawk of the Chicago Hawks in the NHL. The promotional video was aimed at promoting UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm against Valentina Shevchenko. Other fight cards for the event includes Anthony “Rumble” Johnson taking on Glover Teixeira and Edson Barboza versus Gilbert Melendez.

The fight is set on July 23 and there has been no confirmation yet if the Punk-Gall fight will be included as well.
