Jon Jones just had his 13th victory in a row by defeating Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197 on Saturday. But according to UFC rumors, post his fight Jones was seen at the MGM Grand Arena on a wheelchair. So, does this mean that we might not see him at UFC 200 at all?
Jon Jones clearly feels that he is fit enough to fight at UFC 200. And if UFC rumors are to go by, Jones might headline UFC 200 as well.
“I feel great enough to fight at UFC 200, for sure,” said Jones who was walking with a slight limp according to MMA Fighting report.
Explaining his condition, Jones said that he experienced pain in his left shin and left leg. The pain might be the result of his kick that broke OSP’s left arm.
“My shin was swollen, my left shin was swollen, my left foot was swollen,” Jones said. “When my adrenaline came down, I was in a lot of pain, so the wheelchair was there. But once I got the shoe on my foot, everything is a little more compressed now.”
Jones clearly fought his way back into the fight because his main goal was to fight Daniel Cormier.
“This may sound funny – a part of me was just like, ‘You’ve got to fight, Jon – you’ve got to fight DC.’ Do what you’ve got to do to win this fight. The goal is to get back to the UFC. Whether you look like crap right now or not, the goal is to get back to DC,’” Jones said post-fight.
Jon Jones might have won against OSP but clearly his performance didn’t impress Daniel Cormier at all.
“[I’m] very disappointed that I didn’t get to compete tonight because I do believe that if he showed up in the form that he did tonight, or if this is the new Jon Jones, there’s no way that guy can beat me,” Cormier said on FS1’s post-fight show.
Clearly, the swords are out and a fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier would surely add more spice to UFC 200 fight card.
