UFC Rumors: Rafael Dos Anjos, Tony Ferguson scheduled to fight to earn chance for title shot

Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos (25-8 MMA, 14-6 UFC) is scheduled to fight again in the Octagon to clash against Tony Ferguson (21-3 MMA, 11-1 UFC) in Mexico City on November 5.

According to, former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos will be facing Tony Ferguson this November. Though the contracts are not yet signed, the fight is in works and is expected to be at The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 3 Finale.

Rafael Dos Anjos was dethroned by Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC’s first show on UFC 200 week. Alvarez took the former champion head on until he defeated him via TKO in Round 1. Dos Anjos received multiple punishments from Alvarez before the referee decided to stop the match.

Rafael Dos Anjos gave all the credit to Alvarez for winning the match but said that he will return to regain his title. After losing the match, Rafael Dos Anjos is currently ranking No.3 in the lightweight division. This means that he needs to win a fight to be able to have a title match.

Meanwhile, Tony Ferguson came from a very difficult route before reaching his current rank. At UFC Fight Night 91, Ferguson was having a hard time dealing with his late-replacement opponent Lando Vannata. Ferguson was almost knocked out twice but still force to stand until the situation turned in his favor.

Tony Ferguson managed to take the pace in Round 2 and defeated his opponent via D’arce choke submission. He is currently on a stunning eight-fight winning streak with the goal of fighting the champion. Ferguson is currently ranking No. 4 in the lightweight division.

Whoever wins the fight between Rafael Dos Anjos and Tony Ferguson will be having the chance to face the reigning UFC lightweight champion.
