The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 98-97 on Monday night to tie the best-of-seven NBA Western Conference semifinals series. There were controversial non-calls near the end of the game but the Thunder will go back to OKC with the series tied at 1-1 and the Spurs losing homecourt advantage.

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was seen complaining to the officials after the game. Replays also showed that Dion Waiters elbowed Manu Ginobili to make the inbound pass that led to a late-game OKC turnover.

The Spurs still had a chance to win the game despite the bad non-calls but Patty Mills missed a three-pointer that would have given the Spurs the lead.

It was an unfortunate ending for the Spurs, who trailed in double digits earlier in the game. Halfway into the final quarter, San Antonio still trailed by nine points but made a comeback late in the NBA game.

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant starred for OKC combining for 57 points while three players, Serge Ibaka, Steven Adams and Enes Kanter added 12 points each.

LaMarcus Aldridge led San Antonio with 41 points on 15-of-21 shooting but the rest of the Spurs struggled. Kawhi Leonard had 14 points and missed 11 of 18 shots while Tim Duncan had 2 points on 1 of 8 shooting.

Game 3 of the Thunder-Spurs NBA West semis is on Friday and both teams want to forget the controversial non-calls at the end of Game 2 and focus on the long series ahead.
