The Toronto Raptors defeated the Miami Heat, 99-91, in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference playoff series on Wednesday at the Air Canada Centre.
DeMar DeRozan led the Toronto Raptors with 34 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists while Kyle Lowry added 25 points to take the lead to 3-2 in their playoff series against the Heat.
The Raptors took control at the start of the game and established a 20 point lead with 3:39 left in the second quarter. The Heat managed to down the lead with the help of a 10-0 run led by Goran Dragic to finish the first half 55-45.
In the final quarter, the Raptors led by 13 points but Dwayne Wade close the gap to only one point with 1:54 remaining in the game. DeRozan and Lowry teamed up in the remaining seconds of the game and finished with a 99-91 win over the Miami Heat.
Raptors’ back up big man Bismack Biyombo managed to fill up the hole left by their center Jonas Valanciunas, who suffered an injury in Game 4. Biyombo amazed the crowd after being able to block Dwayne Wade’s dunk and managed to get back on court, thus finishing a slam dunk. Biyombo scored 10 points, eight coming from the second half.

Unfortunate events continued to happen after both teams suffered injuries during the game. According to a report from Yahoo Sports, Miami small forward Luol Deng left midway through the third with a sore left wrist and did not return in the game. The team said that the X-ray results were inconclusive.
On the other hand, Toronto Raptors forward DeMarre Carroll injured his left wrist after being called for a charge and did not return in the game. After the play, Carroll went down in pain before getting up and walked to the locker room while holding his wrist. The team said that the X-ray results were negative.
Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Toronto Raptors and the Miami Heat will be on Friday at the American Airlines Arena.
