With the 2015-16 NBA season nearing to an end, the games are expected to be more intense as the Oklahoma City Thunder will finally meet the reigning champion, Golden State Warriors, in the Western Conference finals.
The Thunder managed to defeat the crowd favorite and veteran San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 of their playoff series. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook worked together to lead their team to the West Finals. Though there were doubts with some of their wins, the Thunder somehow proved that they deserve to advance in the next stage of the playoffs.
On the other hand, after suffering from ankle and knee injuries, Stephen Curry is now back for the Golden State Warriors to defend their throne as the reigning NBA champion. Curry’s presence in the Warriors court is undeniably irreplaceable. However, the Warriors managed to win several games even without the MVP and proved that they are still a dangerous team to face even without Curry on their side.
Unfortunately, Warriors big man Andrew Bogut is still questionable for Game 1 against the Thunder. According to Fox Sports, Bogut suffered from right adductor strain in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Portland Trail Blazers. Though he showed up for the Warriors’ practice on Sunday, coach Steve Kerr said that Bogut’s availability in Game 1 is still undetermined.
With this, Warriors back-up big man Festus Ezeli should step up to fill up the space left by Bogut. Ezeli should double his effort in order to match Thunder big man Steve Adams, who showed dominance under the basket in the previous games.
The face-off between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder will surely be an exciting series to watch. The best-of-seven is considered one of the most competitive playoff series this postseason. With Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Stephen Curry stepping in one court, the outcome of the game will remain unpredictable.
Game 1 of the Western Conference finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder will be on Monday 9:00 PM ET at the Oracle Arena.
