The Golden State Warriors kept their hopes of defending the NBA championship title alive after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder, 120-111, in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals on Thursday at the Oracle Arena.

The reigning MVP, Stephen Curry, led the Warriors with 31 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals to force Game 6 against the Thunders. His backcourt duo, Klay Thompson, scored 27 points and Warriors center Andrew Bogut has played his best game of the series with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

“We just did what we’re supposed to do. We’re supposed to win at home,” Curry said. “We know what we still have to do going forward. … We knew if we didn’t win we were going home. There’s no other motivation you need.”

Klay Thompson became a huge factor in the Warriors’ defensive end since he was in charge of Kevin Durant especially in the last minutes of the game. Draymond Green also established an outstanding performance under the basket having 11 points and 13 blocks, though the Thunders are still leading the series, the Warriors have proven that they would not let the series end that easily.

The Thunder did not make it an easy win for the Warriors. They managed to limit the lead as much as possible and answered every attack of the Warriors. However, in the remaining seconds of the game, Stephen Curry stepped up for the Warriors, enabling them to extend the series to Game 6.

Despite the loss, the Thunder’s stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook showed an impressive performance combining for 71 points for the team. Kevin Durant’s presence in the Thunder’s defensive end was one of the major reasons why the Warriors were having a hard getting their second win.

Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder will be on Saturday, May 28 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
