The Golden State Warriors achieved what was previously thought as improbable by beating the legendary Michael Jordan-led ’95-96 Chicago Bulls’ record after they won against the Memphis Grizzlies to established their 73rd win on Wednesday.
After 82 games, the Golden State Warriors are now in the history books for the most wins in a regular season in NBA history. This happened after they beat the Memphis Grizzlies via a 125-104 drubbing in their final game of the 2015-2016 regular season.
Adding to Warriors’ historical 73 wins, Stephen Curry became the only player in the NBA history to hit more than 400 three-pointers in a single season. Curry made his 400th three-pointer with 11:18 in the third quarter.

On the same day was the final game of Lakers’ legend Kobe Bryant, who will be retiring after 20-year NBA career. Stephen Curry expressed his message for Kobe Bryant through his Twitter account.

Yahoo Sports reported that the NBA issued a statement from commissioner Adam Silver on the new record shortly after the final buzzer:
“Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors on their 73rd win and the best regular-season record in NBA history. The team held itself to a high standard throughout the season, playing with purpose every night and captivating fans around the world with its free-flowing style, spectacular shooting and flair for the dramatic. Kudos to the entire Warriors organization.”
