Bernie Sanders witnessed Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors thrilling win over Kevin Durant’s Oklahoma City Thunder to clinch the Western Conference Finals on the Memorial Day at Oracle Arena, Oakland. Sanders was accompanied by actor Danny Glover.
Sanders arrived at the stands during the halftime of the Game 7 with Glover, who was present at a campaign event earlier in the day. They sat behind the Thunder’s basket in section 108, row 15. The spectators were eager to take selfies with Democratic Presidential hopeful.
Earlier in the evening, Sanders appeared in a rally of 12,000 people wearing a Warriors’ hat. He asked the crowd if it “guaranteed him the California primary.” The Vermont senator also made a bold prediction to his supporters with bright California Sun beating down on their faces.
“I don’t want to add to secretary Clinton’s anxiety,” he shouted in a hoarse voice, “But if you promise not to tell her – we’re going to win here in California.”
As the crowd chanted “Bernie, Bernie….” the senator announced that he is the one to beat “disaster” Donald Trump.
The Vermont senator’s campaign spokesperson Michael Briggs also drew thin comparison with the Warriors’ historic comeback in the playoffs on Saturday’s Game 6 to level the final series while speaking to the reporters.
“Did you know that the Golden State Warriors were down 3-1 in what many of the experts said was a mathematical impossibility?” Briggs said with a smile, as reported by the ABC News. “Now, they’re back, in a position where in California they could come from behind, and score a major victory.”
