LeBron James gave a “simple advice” for the new member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kyle Korver. “The King” permits 35-year-old sharpshooter to shoot every time the ball touches his hand.

The Cavaliers upgrade their backcourt with the acquisition of Kyle Korver. They sent Mike Dunleavy, Mo Williams, a 2019 first-round pick and cash consideration to the Atlanta Hawks for the veteran shooting guard. The move shows how the Cavaliers are seriously considering to win a back-to-back championship.

Korver played his first game as a Cavalier when they faced the Utah Jazz. Before the game, LeBron James gave a message for his new teammate.

“First thing I told [Korver] when he walked into the locker room the other day is if you want to fit in shoot the ball every time you get it,” James said. “Shoot the ball as soon as it touch your hands. Shoot it. We don’t care.”

Aside from his advice for Kyle Korver, LeBron James also named some of his teammates who have the go signal to shoot three-pointers. The list was divided into three:

Ultra Green Light: J.R. Smith, Kevin Love, Kyle Korver, Channing Frye, James Jones

Green Light: Kyrie Irving

Flashing Light: LeBron James

At some point, it’s not a surprise that Korver’s name is included in the “Ultra Green Light”. He is 41 percent from beyond the arc this season with the Hawks and is a career 43 percent shooter. However, Korver failed to impress in his first game as a Cavalier where he only managed to score two points on 1-0f-5 shooting.

“I’ve always felt like the better the players are around me, the better I can be,” Korver said. “And this is the most talented team I’ve ever been on, for sure. There’s a lot of things to figure out. I haven’t practiced with the team, I haven’t done a shootaround, I don’t really know what I’m doing right now tonight.”

His performance was somewhat expected since he’s yet to find his chemistry with the team. However, the permission given by James is expected to give Kyle Korver more confidence as he now plays for a reigning NBA champion. Maximizing the effectiveness of the veteran shooting guard will surely be a big help for the Cavaliers in defending their title this season.
