Hall of Famer and TNT analyst Charles Barkley gave his prediction on the Golden State Warriors after Kevin Durant suffered an injury. “Chuck” believes that the Warriors have “no chance” of winning the 2017 NBA championship title without the former MVP.

“Without Kevin Durant, they’ve got zero chance at winning the championship,” Barkley said. “Actually, with the additions the Cavaliers have made, they probably are the leader of the clubhouse. But without Kevin Durant, they’ve got no chance at winning the championship. Zero.”

As Barkley continued, he also doubted if the Warriors could defend their title as the Western Conference champions. The San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets emerged as the teams who can give them a tough battle in West supremacy. The absence of KD proved to be a major concern for the Warriors.

Durant is currently the Warriors’ top scorer, averaging 25.3 points per game. The Warriors offensive rating was 116.9 with Durant on the court and 107.4 with him off of it. However, for those people who watched the Warriors in the past two seasons, they know Golden State can survive as long as they have the “Splash Brothers”, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Kevin Durant expected to be ready for the 2017 NBA playoffs

After Durant suffered a hyper-extended left knee on Tuesday night, there’s a fear that he could be done for the rest of the season. Fortunately, recent reports claimed that Durant will only miss at least four weeks and is expected to play in the playoffs. Stephen Curry said that the Warriors will be fine and felt relieved knowing that Durant will join them in the postseason.

“Anytime you have a guy go down, knowing how tough KD is when he knows he can’t play or stay in the game, you have him in your thoughts,” Curry said. “Definitely there was a sense of relief that he’ll be able to come back at some point down the stretch of the season, and obviously our job now is to stay being us.”

The Warriors’ already felt the effect of Durant’s absence after losing the last two games against the Washington Wizards and the Chicago Bulls. They recently signed Matt Barnes to serve as KD’s temporary replacement. Durant’s injury is indeed a major concern for the Warriors but it will be a great opportunity for Stephen Curry to find his old self.
