New York Knicks star point guard Derrick Rose is currently in the middle of trial after he and two others got accused of raping a woman on August 27, 2013. In a recent testimony, Rose revealed that the NBA taught him during his rookie year how to dispose used condoms.
“In my profession, they teach us to make sure you get the condom if you can’t flush it. It’s kind of normal with my profession,” Rose said, via The Dishh.
“This girl wasn’t someone I was going to introduce to my family or my mom. No way I was going to leave a condom anywhere around her apartment. I was trained to do it,” he added.
According to M.L. Nestel of The Daily Beast, Derrick Rose was taught to dispose used condoms with his semen during the NBA’s Rookie Transition Program. The 28-year-old was drafted in 2008 and the “sex education” class happened in Orlando, Florida.
The prosecutor accused Rose of trying to destroy evidence since he took the used condom with him. Rose also mentioned that he would have flushed it if he knew where the accuser’s bathroom was. It should be noted that the Knicks guard is being sued for $21.3 million in damages.
“At the time I had it in my mind to take it with me. If I had known where her bathroom was I would have flushed it,” Rose said.
The defense attorney of Derrick Rose is looking for a mistrial but U.S. District Court Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald declared that he is not going to declare it since there is a jury. If Judge Fitzgerald declared a mistrial, another trial will happen and Rose could have missed a lot of games for the Knicks.
