Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson may miss the start of the season because of a knee injury during Friday’s voluntary workout at American Airlines Arena. In recent NBA activities, the Miami Heat organization hasn’t had a great summer. According to CBS Sports, after re-signing big-man Hassan Whiteside to a bigger contract, the organization ended up getting into a tough negotiation process with superstar Dwyane Wade. Eventually losing him as he decided not to continue his career with the Heat. Another letdown was with the return process of Chris Bosh because of a serious blood clot issues.

In a report posted by Sun Sentinel, Richardson is expected not to be available for the start of training camp, which starts for the Heat on Sept. 27. However, the 22-year old guard will still be scheduled to make a promotional appearance Saturday in Fort Lauderdale. This indicates reduced concern about the injury.

“Thanks everyone for the tweets and texts. I see them. I’ll be back asap no worries,” Richardson posted on his Snapchat. “Can’t hold a real one down!!!”

In 52 games last season, Richardson only averaged 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds, giving coach Erik Spoelstra a steady guard off the bench but after the All-Star break, his stats went up. He shot 53 percent from 3-point range and also reached double figures 14 times in a 23-game stretch for Miami.

The Miami Heat selected Richardson out of Tennessee with the no. 40 selection in the 2015 NBA draft.
