Jeremy Lin is the newest starting point guard of the Brooklyn Nets following a great bounce back year with the Charlotte Hornets. When asked about Lin’s departure, Hornets starting point guard Kemba Walker has nothing but praise for his former teammate.

In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, Walker had mixed emotions about Lin’s departure. He noted that he hated his former teammate’s decision to join the Nets but he is very happy that he got his opportunity to become a starter.

“I hate to see him go, but at the same time, I’m definitely happy for him. He deserves to be a starter in this league. He’s such a great player and he proved that last season. There were games where I was off and he carried the team,” Walker said

On the other hand, the Hornets starting point guard is happy with all the moves made by the front office. Charlotte added players such as Roy Hibbert and Ramon Sessions to fill the void left by Al Jefferson and Jeremy Lin.

According to Nets Daily, Lin loved his time in Charlotte, playing with Kemba Walker and for head coach Steve Clifford. However, the 27-year-old point guard wanted to become a starter and the Nets were willing to give him that.

Lin will be joining forces with Brook Lopez to form a one-two punch combo under new Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson. The Harvard product credits Atkinson, who was a former Knicks assistant coach, for the emergence of “Linsanity” in 2012.
