Jeremy Lin, Hornets near East homecourt advantage after win over 76ers

Jeremy Lin, Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum led the Charlotte to an easy 100-91 win over the worst team in the league, the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. It was a crucial victory as the Hornets climbed to third place, tied with the Miami Heat, in the Eastern Conference standings.

Charlotte is now near a home court advantage in the first round of the 2016 NBA Playoffs as the Atlanta Hawks lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers also on Friday to drop to fifth place.

The Sixers, which fell to 9 wins against 67 losses for the worst record in the league, battled the Hornets early but fell behind in double digits by the second quarter. The Hornets held off Philadelphia’s rally in the second half.

Walker led the way with 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists while Batum had 19 points and 7 assists for the Hornets who is now on a three-game winning streak. Reserve guard Jeremy Lin had 9 points on 4 of 8 shooting with 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Veteran center Al Jefferson added 13 points and 7 rebounds also off the bench.

Jeremy Lin and the Hornets improved to 44 wins against 31 losses after the win over the Sixers. They have seven games left in the 2015-2016 regular season including big games against East’s top teams Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors in their next two games.
