Jeremy Lin signed with the Brooklyn Nets this 2016 offseason. But before he officially plays for his new team, the Asian-American guard sent a heartfelt message to the Charlotte Hornets and his Hornets fans.
Lin posted on Reddit in the social news site’s Hornets sub-forum, with the username jeremylin07. Lin is one of the players in the NBA who is very active on social media and outspoken as well on various issues.
“Man, thank you guys for embracing me last year. It really was my most enjoyable season in the NBA, and a big part of that was because of the fans (especially the kids who showed up with mohawks lol),” Lin said.
“It was awesome to be a part of a season that surpassed expectations and brought the city its first playoff win in years. I will always cherish my time in Charlotte, but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to continue seeing what I can do as a basketball player. Thank you Buzz City!!”
Lin was one of the most popular players in the Michael Jordan-owned team and he also has a lot of fans not only in the United States but around the world.
Lin had a great season with the Hornets and was a Sixth Man of the Year candidate early in the year. He averaged 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists in the regular season and 12.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in the playoffs.
Jeremy Lin signed a three-year $36 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets this offseason. The Asian-American guard is expected to be the starting point guard for the East team.
