Like Kobe Bryant in previous years with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Durant is the much talked about free agent in an offseason and NBA rumors are plenty with the Oklahoma City superstar being linked to a lot of NBA teams when he becomes a free agent this summer.
Kobe Bryant now has an advice for Kevin Durant as he explores re-signing with the Thunder or moving on to another NBA squad.
“Yeah, I mean, you know, you’ve just got to look at it holistically. What does he want out of his career, what opportunities present themselves, even I — when I was a free agent — I did my due diligence, I looked at every opportunity and I left no stone unturned, so you have to vet those things,” Bryant shared to USA Today to add more to the Kevin Durant free agency rumors that he could leave OKC this offseason.
“I was just very fortunate things worked out for me in Los Angeles, but he certainly needs to look at every opportunity and make the right decision for himself — keeping in mind his fan base in Oklahoma, as well.”
Bryant’s own free agency happened in 2004 when his previous contract with the Lakers expired and he was reportedly considering signing with their rivals Los Angeles Clippers. Bryant stayed with the Lakers despite the feud with center Shaquille O’Neal, who was eventually traded to the Miami Heat later.
Kevin Durant is now also linked to Thunder’s rivals in the West including the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets. KD is also being connected by NBA rumors to Bryant’s Lakers, who has the salary cap space to offer Durant a max contract. Other teams reportedly interested in Durant are the Miami Heat and Washington Wizards.
