Jordan Clarkson of the Los Angeles Lakers is not shy in saying he’s the most underrated and underappreciated player in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
In an article at The Player’s Tribune, Clarkson was featured in the site’s “What the (Blank)?” feature, where players answer a set of questions about their stint in the league and other basketball-related questions.
In the first item of the questionnaire, Clarkson wrote his own name when asked about who is currently the most underrated player in the NBA is.
The 6-foot-5 Filipino-American guard was a second round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards but played his rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Clarkson, who is just 23 years old, showed he was a first round talent starting in 38 of 59 games for the Lakers with averages of 11.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in his first year in the league. In the 2015-2016 NBA Season, Clarkson has started all 57 games so far with averages of 15.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Despite the success in the NBA, it appears Clarkson still wants to prove that he belongs among the best guards in the league by declaring he is the most underrated player.
Clarkson is a free agent after the 2015-2016 NBA Season and one of the top players in the 2016 free agency. Clarkson is looking for his first big pay day in the NBA and it remains to be seen if the Lakers are willing to give him the huge contract or if other teams will nab him in free agency.
