Could a D’Angelo Russell for Eric Bledsoe deal work for the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns? With recent news that Bledsoe has been placed on the trading block by the Suns, there will be new Lakers rumors this offseason linking Bledsoe to Los Angeles as the Hollywood team tries to build a veteran team to convince the top free agents in the market to sign with the Lakers this offseason.

The Suns reportedly offered Eric Bledsoe and the No. 4 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft for the Utah Jazz’s Gordon Hayward but was denied. With Bledsoe available, the Lakers could consider adding him to their line-up but will have to give up a young prospect in D’Angelo Russell.

The Lakers have the luxury to trade away D’Angelo Russell since they still have Jordan Clarkson at the point guard spot assuming they re-sign the latter in free agency, which officially begins July 1.

Bledsoe was also in Lakers rumors some years back when he was playing for the L.A. rival team Clippers but he was eventually traded to Phoenix and re-signed a long-term deal with the Suns in 2014.

Giving up on Russell could work for the Lakers if they want to assure the top free agents this summer that they are serious on contending next season.

Getting Bledsoe, a veteran guard will immediately help the team and free agents like Kevin Durant, Al Horford, Hassan Whiteside and Nicolas Batum, among others will be convinced that they can be major players in the Western Conference in the new NBA season.

However, Bledsoe is coming off a major surgery playing in only 31 games last season. But in a recent interview, he said rehab is going well and he is ready for his NBA comeback.

“I’ve been through it before, so I know what to expect. I’ve been in worse situations, so that’s why you always see me smiling. I know there are better days ahead,” Bledsoe said via

If the Lakers want this trade, they’ll have to include additional players like Lou Williams to make the Bledsoe to Los Angeles work due to NBA trade rules.

Lakers rumors will connect the team to the top free agents in the market but with their hopes of building a title contender names like Eric Bledsoe is something the Hollywood team will consider.
