Nick Young has been part of many trade rumors this offseason, as well as reports saying that he will get released. However, the latest speculation implies that Young is part of the current plans of head coach Luke Walton but he has to get his game together because it is his last chance.

There were high hopes for Young when his career started but his immaturity prevents him from reaching his full potential. Now entering his tenth season in the NBA and third in Los Angeles, this will be his last chance to prove his critics wrong.

According to Aaron Senghera of Sir Charles In Charge, Luke Walton will give all his team the freedom on offense. It is unlike during the tenure of Byron Scott, who has been very inconsistent in his rotation during his two years in Hollywood.

One of the players affected was Nick Young, who will get playing time for several games before getting benched in the next two. It was a hot and cold rotation for Scott and it certainly had an effect on the play of his team that only won a total of 38 games in two seasons.

Senghera opined that Walton’s new offense and personality as a player’s coach benefit not only their young core but also Nick Young. However, he noted that the 30-year-old also has to do his part or else he might get traded at the deadline.

“Luke Walton isn’t going to hold Young back offensively, so now it’s up to him to make the most of this opportunity, because if he doesn’t, his time with the Los Angeles Lakers will be coming to an end,” Senghera wrote.

Nick Young has also started to make amends with D’Angelo Russell, who leaked a video of Young revealing his infidelity to his then-fiancé, Iggy Azalea. According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the two players have started talking again which is good for the team’s chemistry heading into the new season.
