Lamar Odom is trying to flush out his life away as he would not heed to concerns about his alcohol and a substance problem. He would not listen to anyone, not even his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian.
TMZ reported that Kardashian is doing her best to convince the former NBA player to seek professional help by getting into a rehab facility. She even negotiated with Odom to undergo an outpatient program that would help him combat his being an alcoholic and dependent on drugs. But it seems Kardashian’s plea has fallen off deaf ears as Odom remains defiant.
It was also learned that even Odom’s relatives and closest friends are trying to convince him to get into a rehab as they believe that his casual drinking will again lead to something serious such as what happened in October of last year when he was found unconscious in a brother in Nevada that resulted in a four-day coma.
The People reported that according to a medical source, the 36-year old Odom should focus on staying healthy as alcohol and substance consumption could trigger a bad precedent to his health.
“Lamar needs to focus on staying healthy. He should not be consuming any alcohol. In Lamar’s case, as someone who only a few months ago had several life threatening health issues, including kidney failure, he needs to live clean. The trauma to his body after the drug overdose was devastating. Alcohol can cause more damage,” the source Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles said.
The overflowing concerns stemmed out from a photo that showed Odom on a drinking spree inside an Irish pub Johnny O’Brien pub in Sherman Oaks having three shots of Remy Martin. It was also reported that Odom stayed inside the pub until 1 a.m. Sunday morning. The incident took place before he went to Church with the Kardashians in celebrating Easter.
Kardashian, who put on hold her divorce petition with Odom, stated over social media that she feels helpless in extending help to his estranged husband. She went on to say that people around Odom will one day stop in trying to save his life with the way he is taking all the concerns.
Odom was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers back in 1999. He played for the Clippers until 2003 before offering his services to the Miami Heat for one season. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers by the end of the 2004 season wherein he played until 2011. It was also with the Lakers that Odom won two championship ring in 2009 and 2010.
By 2011, Odom was traded then to the Dallas Mavericks and then made his way back to the Los Angeles Clippers by 2012. By 2013, he became and free agent and no team signed him up and he decided to try his luck playing internationally. In Feb. 2014, Odom signed with Laboral Kutxa Baskonia of the Spanish League but returned to the United States due to a back injury.
On April 2014, Odom signed with the New York Knicks for the remainder of the 2014 season, but he never played with the team’s final season. He was then waived by the Knicks.
