LeBron James admitted in a recent interview that chasing Michael Jordan’s success is one of the motivations at this point of his career. Former Jordan teammate B.J. Armstrong is now saying that the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar should stop thinking about the Bulls legend in becoming the “greatest player of all time” because it’s a “far-out” possibility and something LeBron won’t achieve.
“Chasing a ghost is in make-believe land. That’s far-out, that’s unattainable, that’s something you can’t achieve,” Armstrong said via ESPN. “This ain’t no ghost.”
Armstrong insisted that LeBron has to do it his own way and not get caught up with the comparisons with the NBA great.
“This is to LeBron James: If you want to be the best, get rid of the comparisons. Get rid of all the comparisons that are out there. That’s what Michael Jordan did. Jordan realized that in order to be the best, you had to get rid of all the comparisons,” Armstrong, who played with Jordan from 1989 to 1995, added.
LeBron James made the comparison of a ghost to Michael Jordan in a recent interview stating that it what drives him to strive for more championships in the NBA.
“My motivation is this ghost I’m chasing. The ghost played in Chicago,” James said via Sports Illustrated.
James admitted that there are differences between his career and the Bulls legend but said that he can be in the position to steal Michael Jordan’s title as the “greatest player of all time.”
“My career is totally different than Michael Jordan’s. What I’ve gone through is totally different than what he went through. What he did was unbelievable, and I watched it unfold. I looked up to him so much. I think it’s cool to put myself in position to be one of those great players, but if I can ever put myself in position to be the greatest player, that would be something extraordinary,” James said in the same interview.
The biggest criticism against LeBron James is that he has lost a lot of NBA Finals series already. He has 3 championships but has lost four times in the championship round. Michael Jordan proved that he’s unbeatable in the finals going 6-0 in his career for six titles in his NBA career.
Can LeBron James get to six titles and match Michael Jordan and all his achievements? Will LeBron James be the greatest player of all time before he retires?
