NBA All-Star 2017 Game: New Orleans confirmed by league to host annual event

After a month of speculations and rumors, New Orleans was chosen to host the NBA All-Star 2017 game. It is was wonderful news for the New Orleans Pelicans, who represents the city of New Orleans in the NBA.

The news is a really big development for the Pelicans. The team has already hosted two NBA All-Star games previously. They first hosted the event in 2008, when the team was known as New Orleans Hornets. They last organized it in 2014, as reported by New Orleans Advocate.

The NBA All-Star 2017 game will be held at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, which also hosted the 2014 version of the event.

The New Orleans’ Mayor, Mitch Landrieu has expressed his gratitude to the NBA after the governing body declared their decision.

“The combination of NBA All-Star with the first weekend of Mardi Gras will provide our residents, visitors and NBA fans an even more special experience,” Landrieu said, according to

The Pelicans owner, Tom Benson has also commended the NBA for choosing their city to host the event.

“We are grateful that the NBA has selected us to host the 2017 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans,” Benson stated.

The event is extremely popular and fans from all around the world will be excited to see their favorite NBA players showcase their skills on the basketball court.

The NBA All-Star 2017 game is slated to take place on February 19.
