Kevin Durant has finally spoken up about the upcoming 2016 NBA free agency.

Earlier in the season, reports out of OKC was that their franchise player do not want to discuss his availability as a free agent this upcoming summer. After a bad week when the Thunder lost six of their last eight games, Durant addressed the eventual issue of either leaving the Thunder or moving on to another NBA franchise.

Although Durant did not specifically mention any teams that he will consider this summer, the OKC star talked about

“I like the fact that our game is growing. That’s my whole thing, just to grow the game of basketball and leave my mark on it,” Durant said to Sam Amick of USA Today Sports.

“You could just look it as a positive thing, that our game is growing and you can be able to do whatever you want as an owner, a (general manager) as a player, and ultimately that’s what you want: to make a decision on your own and to make a decision that makes you happy. That makes everything just wide open at this point,”

Durant did not specifically address his free agency issue but he did discuss the excitement surrounding the free agency overall especially with the huge money coming in for the league due to a recent rich and lucrative broadcast deal with ESPN by the NBA.

Durant remained adamant that free agency is not his focus but the Thunder’s on-going campaign for an NBA title.

“I’m really not a guy for all the attention, and I know the attention is on me and the spotlight is on me as far as what’s going to happen and what the future holds,” Durant added.

NBA rumors of Durant leaving OKC this summer is the hottest topic during this season—and it will reach a feverish pitch when the star forward officially hits the 2016 free agency.

With teams like the defending champion Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies and Durant’s hometown team Washington Wizards already being linked to Durant, even more teams are expected to chase the superstar, especially with the mentioned rise in salary cap for all NBA teams.
