NBA rumors have swirled around the web that Arron Afflalo is leaving New York Knicks for Los Angeles Clippers. Afflalo has played in the NBA for nine years and expected to become a restricted free agent this summer. The 30-year-old shooting guard has already proven itself as an effective two-way player in the NBA.
Several teams have been reportedly shown interest in signing Afflalo to their lists, one of the teams that might be interesting in signing the 30-year-old shooting guard will be the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Clippers is facing the tough decision this offseason and has been looking for outside talents that could make their starting small forward. Last summer Knicks team President Doc Rivers traded Lance Stephenson from the Charlotte Hornets in hopes of Stephenson taking that role, but things didn’t turn that way. The Clippers made a tough decision and decided to trade away Stephenson in the middle of the season. Stephenson was traded with Memphis Grizzlies’ small forward Jeff Green.
Another team that might be interested in getting Afflalo is the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets is now hot and in great need of an upgrade to their guard positions. The Nets now have Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young on their front court but they’re still looking for more. They also have their shooting guard Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who has already shown promising moves but was knocked out due to injury. Analysts believe that a Hollis-Jefferson and Afflalo combination could make a good “killing” on the perimeter, something that Nets are looking for.
Afflalo started to play in NBA as a defender that was until he was traded to Orlando Magic where he spent two seasons with the team. During his stay with the Magic, Afflalo has quickly proved itself as a reliable offensive player, where he averaged 18. 2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists in his second year in the team.
Last summer, Afflalo has joined his old teammate Carmelo Anthony by going with the New York Knicks, where he signed a two-year contract worth $16 million along with a second-year player option. At Knicks, Afflalo had made an impressive season, averaging 12.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2 assists per game. Those are pretty good numbers considering that Afflalo was the only third scoring option for the team, just behind former teammate Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis.
Afflalo is listed at 6’5” at 210 pounds, he was a kind of player that can play both the shooting guard position and small forward role. His defensive ability will enable Rivers to build a small lineup and make the Clippers better on the perimeter defense
The Clippers have reportedly shown interest in Arron Afflalo a couple of years ago, and now they are about to get their second chance in signing Arron Affalo. They have been looking to add another wing player to their team and Afflalo could be the guy they’re looking for.
