Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Sacramento Kings who are reportedly willing to send star center DeMarcus Cousins if the Cleveland Cavaliers are willing to trade Kyrie Irving.

DeMarcus Cousins is one of the NBA superstars frequently mentioned in trade rumors. The speculations heated up the in the 2016 NBA Draft when the Sacramento Kings chose two big men- Georgios Papagiannis and Skal Labissiere, both playing the same position as “Boogie”.

Several NBA teams were reportedly inquiring regarding the availability of DeMarcus Cousins, including the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James and the Cavaliers successfully defeated the Golden State Warriors in the recent NBA Finals.

With the hope of a revenge next season, the Warriors upgraded their roster by adding Kevin Durant. To defend the throne, the Cavaliers are expected to respond to the Warriors’ move.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insider revealed that the Cavaliers inquired for DeMarcus Cousin of the Sacramento Kings.

With the current status of the Kings, there is no reason for Cousins to stay when he becomes a free agent in 2018. The Kings are surely realizing this scenario and might think of trading him than not getting anything in return.

“They’re fooling themselves if they think he’s sticking around,” said one league executive. “The good news for them is his value will always be high.”

As of now, the plausible deal that the Kings are expected to entertain is a superstar-for-superstar trade. In various trade rumors, Kevin Love’s name emerged as the only player that the Cavaliers are willing to offer. However, will the Kings want Love on their team?

According to Zach Harper of CBS Sports, the biggest weakness of the Sacramento Kings is the point guard position. The Kings currently have Darren Collison as their most reliable point guard. However, he is about to face two domestic violence charges that may lead to a suspension if proven guilty.

If the Kings will be sending DeMarcus Cousins to Cleveland, they will surely prefer Kyrie Irving over Kevin Love. However, knowing LeBron James and the Cavaliers, they will prefer to keep the same roster than trade Irving.

So far, the only assets that the Cavaliers are willing to give up might be Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert, and future draft picks. If Cavs realize that they need to upgrade their roster, they are expected to make an alternative move without sacrificing one of their key players.
