Latest NBA rumors have the Boston Celtics sending guard Marcus Smart to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for big man Nerlens Noel. Noel and another big man, Jahlil Okafor have been part of the many speculated trades this offseason with the Sixers reportedly wanting a “more balanced roster” before the new NBA season begins.
CBS Sports’ Zach Harper presented possible trades for Philadelphia involving Noel. One of the options was to send him to Boston for combo guard Smart. These NBA rumors are not new with the team reportedly still aggressive in adding another star to their line-up this offseason.
Aside from Noel and Okafor, the Sixers also feature Dario Saric, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons in their frontcourt rotation. It’s likely that one or two or traded among the Sixers forwards and centers because of the issue of playing time.

“Some people are very high on Smart’s potential. In many ways, he’s a lot like Noel — a lights-out defender with elite potential on that end, but a serious project on the offensive end,” Harper wrote.
“Look, it’s not a perfect deal for either side, but it’s not bad at all. It’s something both sides should be thinking about right now. It could end up yielding great value both ways in a win-win down the road.”
Harper adds that both teams would improve on their weak spots if this Philadelphia 76ers-Boston Celtics rumors happened. Sixers will get a perimeter defensive player while the Celtics will improve their defense and rebounding in the frontcourt.

Other teams involved in the trade speculations for Nerlens Noel are the Minnesota Timberwolves (for Ricky Rubio and Shabazz Muhammad) and New Orleans Pelicans (for 2017 first round pick and Tyreke Evans).
Some other NBA rumors have the team targeting stars DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings) and Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers) but all are speculations for now and they could settle for someone like Nerlens Noel.
