The Boston Celtics are linked with a lot of star players like DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Love and Jimmy Butler since the trade deadline. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Celtics may also be interested in trading for Oklahoma City star big man Serge Ibaka.
Ryan Davis of the Sports Cheat Sheet suggested that Boston explores the possibility of acquiring Ibaka from the Thunder this offseason, especially if they fail to win the NBA championship. Oklahoma City is preparing for the worst as they are set to lose Kevin Durant in free agency.

The Celtics are also interested in Durant but they could also trade for his teammate. Davis noted that the 26-year-old power forward will be a free agent at the end of the 2016-17 season.
The Thunder will have to decide about him next season since they could lose him for nothing or trade him to get back some assets if he does not want to re-sign. Oklahoma has players like Steven Adams and Enes Kanter to replace Ibaka.
The Celtics could package a deal surrounding their prized draft picks along with a player like Amir Johnson. Nonetheless, these are just all speculations as the Thunder has a real chance of winning the Larry O’Brien trophy as they are leading 1-0 over the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

The Celtics are fully equipped to make big changes this offseason. They have a lot of draft picks and young assets to acquire a superstar player. They also have money to spend for another star player that can make them one of the best teams in Eastern Conference.
