The Kevin Durant sweepstakes has begun. Many teams are lining up to sign the most coveted free agent to hit the market since LeBron James in 2010. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Brooklyn Nets are in a great position to sign Durant this summer due to a number of reasons.
The Oklahoma City Thunder were only a win away from the NBA Finals but they threw it all away by losing three straight games against the Golden State Warriors. Once the Game 7 buzzer ended, many thought that Durant has played his last game as a member of the Thunder.

SB Nation’s Nets Daily pointed out several things that prove KD has a good chance to play in Brooklyn next season. His agent Jay-Z is a former minority owner of the Nets and he still has ties with the organization.
Durant is under Jay-Z’s management company, RocNation, whose president is Michael Yormark. His twin brother, Brett Yormark is the CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment that controls the Nets, Barclays Center and the New York Islanders.
Adam Harrington, who is part of Durant’s inner circle and his personal trainer, was just hired by the Nets to be their director of player development. When the 27-year-old former MVP suffered a broken foot last year, the surgery was performed by current Nets foot and ankle specialist, Dr. Martin O’Malley.
The seven-time All-Star is a known Christian and his pastor Carl Lentz has a church in Manhattan but he lives in Brooklyn. The Nets also have the cap space to sign Durant but these are all just speculations at this point.
