Dion Waiters has not found any home yet in free agency. The situation just got worst for him after the Oklahoma City Thunder rescinded his qualifying offer making him an unrestricted free agent.

The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly interested Dion Waiters in free agency. Marc Stein of ESPN reported that the Nets set a meeting with Waiters earlier this month in Las Vegas when he was still a restricted free agent. Unfortunately, no offer sheet was given to him.

Many believed that the acquisition of Victor Oladipo of the Thunder made them decided to no longer extend his contract. There are speculations that this move by the Thunder is a preparation to make enough salary cap room when they extend Russell Westbrook’s contract.

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets previously gave an offer sheet to Allen Crabbe and Tyler Johnson. However, since both of them were restricted free agents their respective team matched the offer of the Nets to regain the rights to them.

The Brooklyn Nets are currently in need of a guard who can work together with Jeremy Lin. With their meeting with Dion Waiters, it seems like the conversation did not go well and has something to do with financial matters.

Matt Moore of CBS Sports revealed that Dion Waiters was facing maturity and efficiency issues his entire career. He tried to work on this issues in the past season but things had not worked well when Kevin Durant decided to leave. Another team that is reportedly pursuing Waiters is the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Sixers are currently looking for players to boost their backcourt and Waiters could be the best fit for the role. Upon hearing the news about his contract, Dion Waiters made an Instagram post with a hashtag #TRUSTTHEPROCESS. There some who wondered if this post was referring to Sixers’ slogan ‘Trust the Process’.

“That doesn’t have anything to do with the Sixers,” a source close to Waiters said. “That’s a mantra that he and his trainer have made for a while. When things weren’t doing well at Syracuse, they would say ‘trust the process.’  Whenever he goes through a tough time, he says ‘trust the process.’  Right now, he’s trusting the process of free agency.”

As of now, there are few teams who can offer Dion Waiters a higher salary. However, these teams are the same caliber like the Sixers who are currently undergoing a rebuilding process. If someone opens up a door for him and give what he wants, Waiters’ future in the league is secured.
