The Chicago Bulls have been busy this offseason but they might even get busier. According to the latest NBA rumors, there is a possibility that the Bulls could acquire superstar center DeMarcus Cousins from the Sacramento Kings.
Chicago started the summer by trading Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks while also letting Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol walk for free. Then they signed Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade while taking Jimmy Butler off the trading block, per RealGM.
Butler is now the face of the franchise with Wade and Rondo being the supporting stars. However, there is a chance that the Bulls are trying to further improve their roster this offseason by pulling off a blockbuster trade.
According to Allana Tachauer of Hoops Habit, one of the possible targets for Chicago is DeMarcus Cousins, who has been linked with a lot of NBA rumors this offseason. She pointed out that the Bulls could trade a bunch of young assets in exchange for the two-time All-Star.
Her suggestion is trading a combination of Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic, Bobby Portis and Denzel Valentine to Sacramento for Cousins. She noted that the Kings are looking for young talents to develop which makes this deal a possibility.
As for “Boogie” fitting in Chicago, he is good friends with Rajon Rondo and he is currently teammates with Jimmy Butler in the 2016 Rio Olympics representing Team USA. If the Bulls can pull this off, they will become legitimate threats in the Eastern Conference.
However, it should be noted that these are just NBA rumors at the moment but several teams have inquired about DeMarcus Cousins this summer. Nevertheless, the Kings can wait until next summer to trade him if he cannot work well with new head coach Dave Joerger and his relationship with the front office deteriorates even further.
