After making Pau Gasol available for trade discussion, the Chicago Bulls have also dangled another one of their stars as trade bait for Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo.
Community Sport Report Orlando reported that the Bulls reached out to the Magic and offered the two-time NBA All-Star in exchange for Oladipo, a first-round pick and another player. It wasn’t specified which player on the Magic roster the Bulls want to be included, but it’s likely either Nikola Vucevic or Channing Frye.
“Community Sports Report, citing a source close to the Magic, reports Chicago wanted Victor Oladipo, another player and a first round pick in exchange for Butler. The Magic reportedly declined that offer.”
Butler, who is averaging a career-high 22.4 points along with 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this year, was selected to play in his second All-Star game, but did not participate due to a knee injury that will keep on the sideline for at least 3-4 weeks. The Bulls locked him up to a five-year, $95 million deal, yet his future with the ballclub remains uncertain due to a rumored locker room issues with his teammates (Bleacher Report).
Other than the Bulls, the Lakers are also being linked to a possible trade deadline move for Oladipo, the no.2 overall pick in the 2013 Draft.
According to Morning News USA (via Yibada), a league source disclosed that the Lakers are high on Oladipo because of his massive two-way potential. The team is willing to sacrifice Louis Williams and possibly Jordan Clarkson, who will become a restricted free-agent this summer, for the former Indiana Hoosiers standout.
