The Chicago Bulls are expected to be one of the active teams this offseason after a disappointing 2015-16 season. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Bulls may trade Derrick Rose to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for D’Angelo Russell.
Chicago missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008 when they finished the season with a 42-40 record. The first year of Fred Hoiberg as head coach was plagued by injuries, chemistry issues, and inconsistencies.
Derrick Rose has come up in a lot NBA rumors ever since the regular season ended with the latest linking him to the New York Knicks. According to Ian Begley of ESPN, the New York Knicks are interested in acquiring Rose from the Bulls.
However, the Chicago front office has been mum on his availability since his value is not as high as they want it to be. The 27-year-old had a good season and he stayed relatively healthy playing for 66 games, his highest total since the 2010-11 season.
Evan Massey of Forbes reported that the Lakers wants to make it back to the playoffs and acquiring Rose from the Bulls is the answer. He suggested that Los Angeles send D’Angelo Russell to Chicago in exchange for Rose and the Bulls’ 14th overall pick.
As mentioned in a previous report, the Lakers are reportedly open to discussing a trade involving Russell but they are not necessarily looking to sell him. If ever LA decides to let the 20-year-old guard go, the Lakers would want a top five pick in return.
Nonetheless, these are all NBA rumors at the moment with trade possibly happening at draft night on Thursday, June 23. What do you think? Should the Bulls trade Rose this offseason? Will the Lakers acquire another top five pick in the draft?
