The Philadelphia 76ers are now in a position to run a winning season, thanks to a major boost in the Sixers roster with their No. 1 pick Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, and the return of Joel Embiid. Will Nerlens Noel remain part of the Sixers roster?

The Sixers have been aggressive on shipping one or two of their big men Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor to ease a logjam. But they also want to have a substantial deal out of their big men, and not just trade for the sake of it.

It’s been difficult to finalize a good deal with either of them since teams want to take advantage of their need to trade, not being comfortable with running a team with an excess of centers.

But it turns out that the Sixers may just focus on trading Jahlil Okafor instead, and cancel their plans of moving Nerlens Noel.

According to a report by CBS Sports, coach Brett Brown said, “Nerlens has got elite gifts. He’s as athletic and quick off the floor and quick rim to rim as anyone that I’ve coached, as any big man in the league.”

He’s also best fitted to the team’s transition game compared to Jahlil Okafor, whose game may be a bit outdated.

With Joel Embiid being untested yet due to his nagging injury, it may be wise to keep that Nerlens Noel trade at bay. For as long as he can maintain his game and improve even more on his defense, NBA rumors have him staying in Philadelphia.

At least his chances are better than Jahlil Okafor.

“Do your job and we will help you,” he added. “The league will reward that. The 76ers will reward that. He will be rewarded for playing like that.” Brett Brown said in a report by Hoops rumors.

With his elite talents, they want him to be like Bismack Biyombo or Dikembe Mutombo who are best known for their defense. And Nerlens Noel could still be better than both given his age, and how he is the more mobile athlete with quicker hands.

On the other hand, Jahlil Okafor’s tendency for re-injuring himself is a matter of concern. And keeping him won’t work well in terms of rhythm and team chemistry, especially with him both with Noel simultaneously on court.

Does this mean Nerlens Noel trade options are now cancelled?
