The Cleveland Cavaliers are not interested in acquiring superstar scorer Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. It is after the Knicks gauged interest from the Cavs by offering Anthony in exchange for Kevin Love.
Cavs reject Knicks offer Melo for Love
According to ESPN, the Knicks have started shopping Carmelo Anthony and they initially offered him to the Cavaliers. However, the defending champions are not interested in trading Kevin Love since they need a playmaker, not another scorer.
The report also noted that if ever the Cavs accepted the offer, the Knicks front office was ready to talk with Anthony about waiving his no-trade clause. It should be noted that the 32-year-old forward is one of only three players with a full no-trade clause in his contract along with LeBron James and Dirk Nowitzki.
LeBron James reacts to Carmelo Anthony trade rumor
After the Cavaliers’ third straight loss on Wednesday, LeBron James was asked about his thoughts on the rumored Anthony for Love trade. He told reporters that the team cannot think about fantasy trades since the team is currently struggling.
“We got 14 guys in here. We can’t play fantasy basketball, we got to go out and play,” James said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Carmelo Anthony thinks LeBron wants to play with him
In an interview with the New York Post, Anthony was asked about the comments made by James about the Cavs need to make a trade. He also answered a question if he is interested in playing with the Cavaliers.
“You ask me a question if he thinks I’d want to play with him?. Yes. I do think he’d want me to play with him. I don’t think he wouldn’t. But I don’t know if that comment was about me. I don’t think I’m the only playmaker in the NBA,” Anthony said.
