The Cleveland Cavaliers are starting to get ready to defend their NBA title next season. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Cavaliers have made an inquiry to the Sacramento Kings regarding DeMarcus Cousins.
Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders was asked on Twitter if the NBA rumors about the Cavs and Cousins are true. He answered that the defending champs have inquired the availability of the 25-year-old center.
However, Kyler noted that the talks between the Cavaliers and Kings led to nowhere. It is speculated that Cleveland offered Kevin Love in exchange for Cousins.
Not likely for either – was told Cavs inquired about Cousins, but it dd not go anywhere. https://t.co/hx9SDXZdbo

The Kings has not made Cousins available but the two-time All-Star expressed his disappointment on the front office moves in the 2016 NBA draft. In an interview with Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee, he mentioned that he is just going to do his job next season.
“I do my job. I can’t control (the draft). I control what I can control. I really don’t understand it but I do my job,” Cousins said.
According to Jason Marcum of A Sea of Blue, the Kings are expected to trade Cousins before his contract expires at the end of the 2017-18 season. He is one of the most talented big men in the NBA but he has not made the playoffs due to problems with his attitude and the instability of the Kings organization.
On the other hand, the Cavaliers’ inquiry about Cousins shows that they want to improve their already impressive team. The Golden State Warriors have added Kevin Durant and Cleveland knows they need to more than LeBron James and Kyrie Irving to beat them.
