The Philadelphia 76ers have been linked with many NBA rumors in the past couple of months because of their glut of frontcourt players. Nerlens Noel or Jahlil Okafor or both are expected to be traded this offseason and the Cleveland Cavaliers may have an interest in one of them.
According to Quenton Albertie of King James Gospel, the Cavaliers should acquire Noel from the Sixers to balance out their roster. He noted that Noel is a much better fit in Cleveland than Okafor because he can protect the rim.
Albertie suggested that the Cavs trade Iman Shumpert, Jordan McRae, and a draft pick in exchange for Nerlens Noel. He mentioned that the Sixers will like this idea since they will have two wing players to compliment their core players of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
“McRae alone likely wouldn’t entice the 76ers. A player like Iman Shumpert, a defensive ace at all three backcourt positions, could enhance the trade package. The 76ers, ever-looking for young talent, will have two young wings to join Simmons and Embiid, but could ask for a draft pick as well” Albertie wrote.
On the other hand, the Cavaliers may want to add a veteran player like Carl Landry alongside Noel to sweeten the deal. The defending champs can easily fit a player like him either as a starter or sixth man.
With Kevin Love still being kept for the time being, Noel is a better version of Tristan Thompson on defense. However, it should be noted that these is just a mere suggestion. The Cavaliers still need to re-sign LeBron James and J.R. Smith.
According to Bret Stuter of The Sixers Sense, there is a big possibility that the team will keep both Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor until the trade deadline. He pointed out that the Sixers won’t trade both players for something that is not a high draft pick or an NBA player with potential.
