The Cleveland Cavaliers have been linked DeMarcus Cousins recently and there were reports saying that they inquired or even offered a trade to the Sacramento Kings. However, the latest NBA rumors imply that Cousins is not going anywhere but one writer suggested a three-team trade that might work.
Sai Mohan of Hoops Habit proposed a three-team trade involving the Cavaliers, Kings and Brooklyn Nets. The main core of the deal is Cousins, Kevin Love, and Rudy Gay. It should be noted that the trade proposal is just a suggestion but the Cavs’ interest is likely true.
Mohan used the ESPN Trade Machine to come up with the trade with DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore coming to Cleveland. The Nets will get Rudy Gay while the Kings are going to receive Kevin Love, Mike Dunleavy, Bojan Bogdanovic, Mo Williams and a future draft pick from the Cavs.
The defending champions will come out winners from this trade since they will be replacing Love with Cousins while McLemore slots into J.R. Smith’s role. On the other hand, the Kings can finally start from scratch with Love as their new star player.
As for the Nets, they will get Rudy Gay to help them be competitive in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn has no other choice but to improve their roster with veterans since they don’t have a first-round pick until the 2019 Draft.
According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, the Kings know that the Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics are very interested in DeMarcus Cousins. But the front office is determined to keep him at least for one more year before he becomes a free agent after the 2017-18 season.
However, the Kings were off to a bad start after questionable selections at the draft that baffled their All-Star center. Nevertheless, Cousins will gain more experience this summer playing for the Team USA at the Olympics and he has lost 25 pounds due to a hot yoga program.
