The NBA rumors surrounding Nerlens Noel has died down in the past month but he has been linked with the Boston Celtics this past several days. According to the latest speculations, the Boston Celtics could acquire Noel from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Marcus Smart and James Young.
The 22-year-old caused quite a stir last week when he tweeted how he loves the city of Boston. He also changed his Twitter avatar and removed the Philadelphia skyline as his header. Noel grew up about six miles from Boston in Malden, Massachusetts.
I’m blessed to be from Boston. Love my city.

Nerlens Noel, as well as Jahlil Okafor, was linked with NBA rumors since before the 2016 NBA draft. The Sixers have a glut of young frontcourt players with Joel Embiid finally healthy, and the arrival of Ben Simmons and Dario Saric.
According to CSN New England, the Celtics are interested in Noel because he is a great fit beside Al Horford. Even though he is not the star that will make Boston title favorites, he is enough to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a run for their money.
The Celtics have a lot of assets that can convince the Sixers, who are in need of a point guard and wing players, to part ways with Noel. They have players such as Marcus Smart, Avery Bradley, Terry Rozier, Demetrious Jackson, James Young, R.J. Hunter and Abdel Nader to choose from.
Jeremy Karll of Hardwood Houdini speculates that a combination of Smart or Bradley along with a young wing like Young, Hunter or Nader may be enough to obtain Noel. The Celtics also have several first round picks to sweeten a possible deal.
It should be noted that these are just NBA rumors and a deal has not been made between teams. The Celtics and Sixers still have more than a month left to improve their roster before training camp starts on September 28, 2016
