The Boston Celtics have been trying to acquire a third star via trade but they cannot find a deal they like. However, the latest NBA rumors suggested a crazy three-team trade involving the Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers that will send DeAndre Jordan to Boston.
According to a website called NBA-Trade-Rumors.com, the Celtics will acquire Jordan by trading away Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, Amir Johnson and a first-round pick to the Clippers. The Clippers then trade Smart to the Sixers in exchange for Nerlens Noel.

First, it should be noted that these are just NBA rumors at the moment and it is just purely speculative. However, let us dissect this trade if it works for all the teams involved. According to the ESPN Trade Machine, the trade is successful despite looking lopsided.
The Celtics are giving up a lot of players for DeAndre Jordan, who is one of the best centers in the NBA but has flaws in his game. The 28-year-old is arguably the best defensive center in the NBA, as well as the most athletic, but he is also one of the worst free throw shooters in history.
Jordan will be a great fit beside Al Horford but he cannot be played during the end of a close game due to his free throw woes. Boston will also give up an important draft pick that has the chance to become a first overall pick.
On the other hand, the Clippers get a lot of new players with Nerlens Noel replacing DeAndre Jordan in the middle. Jae Crowder slots in the small forward spot while Amir Johnson is a great backup for Blake Griffin.
Finally, the Sixers will get their point guard of the future in Marcus Smart while finally getting rid of Noel. Nevertheless, I don’t see this trade happening since the Celtics are not going to give up a lot for someone like DeAndre Jordan.
However, I see them making a big trade at the deadline or next summer for a superstar player like Jimmy Butler or DeMarcus Cousins. The Celtics will likely give up a future first-round pick, Jaylen Brown and several other players.
