Among the hottest NBA rumors this week involves the Boston Celtics getting a superstar in the next few days. However, one report state that the Celtics are not in contact with any of the teams, Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder, rumored to be as Boston’s trade partner.
Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald claims that according to his league sources, the Celtics are “open to major moves” but has not had “discussions” with the Clippers and Thunder in recent weeks.
NBA rumors from various sources indicate the Celtics’ interest in OKC’s Russell Westbrook and L.A.’s Blake Griffin. Boston is always included in the speculations for superstar trades since they have the assets in their roster and also future draft picks.
The Celtics are also considered one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference. They acquired Al Horford earlier in 2016 free agency and they could be an attractive option for players who wants to win a championship.
Kevin Durant, Westbrook’s former teammate at Oklahoma City, reportedly considered joining the Celtics before he landed with the Golden State Warriors. Without Durant in OKC, there are now speculations that Westbrook will also leave the Thunder when he hits free agency in 2017.
This put the Celtics in NBA rumors as possible destination for Westbrook. Boston is also rumored in a three-way trade that involves Griffin and Rudy Gay of the Sacramento Kings.
