NBA Rumors: Chicago Bulls willing to trade Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic for Blake Griffin

Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Chicago Bulls who are reportedly trading Nikola Mirotic and Taj Gibson for Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin.

It is not a surprise if some NBA teams became interested with Blake Griffin after being involved in a trade deal with the Boston Celtics. The Clippers superstar is still considered one of the best power forwards in the league despite playing limited games last season.

The Boston Celtics are reportedly trading some of their starters but do not want to give up their future first-round picks. There are reports saying that the Chicago Bulls are also interested in making an offer in order to add Blake Griffin to their roster.

The Chicago Bulls recently acquired Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo in free agency. No one has the idea how can Wade, Rondo and Butler fit together in one team, even coach Fred Hoiberg.

“Great players always figure it out,” Hoiberg said. “It has to be about one thing, and that’s winning. Based on who has the hot hand on any given night, you play through that guy, and the rest of the team plays off him.”

If the three superstars find the right chemistry, there is no doubt that the Chicago Bulls will be a contender in the East. Adding another main piece in their frontcourt may give them the chance to match the reigning Eastern Conference champions, Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Chicago Bulls could offer Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic for Blake Griffin. Though there is no indication that the Clipper will entertain the offer, they should consider thinking of their future before they decline the deal.

Based on their playoff history, the Clippers were having a hard time passing the second round of the playoffs even with the help of their ‘Big Three’. The recent postseason was a disaster to them after Chris Paul and Blake Griffin suffered an injury.

Blake Griffin missed most games of the 2015-16 NBA regular season after being suspended and suffering a leg injury. The Clippers proved that they can still enter the playoff even with a limited help from Griffin.

If they want to rebuild their roster now, trading Blake Griffin for Nikola Mirotic and Taj Gibson makes sense. Ryan Mckenzie of Fansided explained why Nikola Mirotic would be a great acquisition for the Clippers.

“Mirotic’s ability to shoot from deep is the most important part of his arsenal — but it isn’t the only part,” he said. “In his attempt to get players to buy into his system Hoiberg has effectively made Mirotic a one-dimensional player. He is still very effective, just predictable.”

However, if the Clippers will be putting Blake Griffin on the trading block, there will surely be lots of NBA teams lining up to give a seductive offer. A couple of starters together with future first-round picks will surely be the best offer for the Los Angeles Clippers to close the deal.
