Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Boston Celtics who are reportedly targeting Kevin Love from the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer.

Kevin Love has been part of various trade rumors in the past months. His varying intensity every game does not affect how the Boston Celtics want him to be part of their team. The Celtics are reportedly giving away a starter and the third overall pick for the Cavaliers forward. However, it is still questionable if the Cavaliers will bite the bait.

There were speculations that the Cavaliers will be trading Kevin Love after his disappointing performance in the NBA Finals. Many have noticed Love’s lack of effort on the defensive end that led to Cavaliers’ consecutive loss in the first two games against the Warriors.

Andrew Perna of RealGm reported that Celtics general manager Danny Ainge met with Jeff Schwartz to discuss their desire to acquire Kevin Love from the Cavaliers. Ainge is believed to have inquired to Love’s agent if their offer for Love will be revisited.

A starter and a third overall pick seemed to be not enough for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Recalling when LeBron James decided to return, the Cleveland Cavaliers first assured the acquisition of Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves. This means that they will only trade Love for another superstar.

According to Sean Deveney of Sporting News:

“But it’s not clear that they have interest in dealing at all. The Cavs’ long run to this championship certainly erases any immediate deal for Love—they’re not going to trade the guy at the draft, obviously—but that’s not much of an issue since the Cavs were never going to move Love for draft picks.”

However, the Boston Celtics can still find a way if they are really serious with Kevin Love. They can offer a starter and the third overall pick to other teams like the New York Knicks. It is not a secret to everyone about Carmelo Anthony’s desire to team up with LeBron James.

The Knicks might bite their offer since they are currently undergoing a rebuilding process. With this, the Celtics could send Carmelo Anthony to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kevin Love.

However, the Celtics might think twice in this situation since Carmelo Anthony can be considered their next franchise player. Still, if they believe that Kevin Love is the answer for their team to be back to title contention, chances are, they will pursue the trade.
