With a huge space in their salary cap, the Dallas Mavericks are looking to acquire the top two players in their positions in free agency. NBA rumors have linked the Texas team to unrestricted free agents Hassan Whiteside of the Miami Heat and Mike Conley of the Memphis Grizzlies.

According to Mavs Moneyball, the Mark Cuban-owned franchise is set to offer max deals to both Conley and Whiteside. Among all free agents in the 2016 offseason market, Whiteside and Conley are the top players in the center and point guard positions, respectively.

Dallas News added that the Mavericks appear to be the frontrunner for Whiteside. The promising center can re-sign with the Heat with Pat Riley stating he is their top priority in 2016 free agency.

However, other teams like the Mavs can offer the same value of a max contract to Whiteside. Miami can lose him for nothing if he chooses to sign with other teams being an unrestricted free agent.

Conley’s case is different as the Grizzlies can offer him the full max contract or a deal for over five years. Dallas can only offer Conley a max contract for four years.

The Mavericks will likely lose shooter Chandler Parsons in free agency after they stated they are not willing to give him a long-term deal. NBA rumors has Parsons linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Orlando Magic and Grizzlies.
