The legendary coach of the league, David Blatt is seriously considering the overseas offers this summer than returning to the NBA. Spanish giants Barcelona has already pitched an offer to Blatt, as reported by the Sports Rageous last month.
The Israeli-American coach delivered a speech to the coaches and the players in the Adidas Eurocamp on Saturday about the experiences he has gathered in his long coaching career.
Blatt revealed that his chances of a return to the NBA for next season aren’t over yet, but he is preferring the overseas offers.
“I don’t think that my chances are gone,” the former Cavs coach told the league’s official site. “I just think right now I’m not thinking about. But, no. I think I did enough good things in the NBA and I know enough people to where if it’s my desire in some way, shape or form to come back that I could. But it’s just not what I’m thinking about right now.”
The Cavs under David Blatt posted the best record in the Eastern Conference at that phase and bowed out to the Golden State Warriors in the last season’s finals in six games. But the Cavs‘ management became increasingly concerned about the locker room environment and fired Blatt in January.
The only Israeli-American coach of the NBA now wants to return to Europe with a new challenge.
“I would one day,” he said. “But I’m trying to focus right now on my next challenge. I never sat and dreamed on a daily basis of being in the NBA and it happened because I worked hard and was part of enough very successful things that it made me a viable candidate. I hope to do the same thing and if I want the same result could come.”
Blatt had several coaching stints in many countries of Europe in his illustrious career earlier.
