The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the teams involved in NBA rumors that is supposedly targeting Toronto Raptors forward DeMar DeRozan.

With DeMar DeRozan completely struggling at this point of the 2016 NBA Playoffs, could his free agency value be dropping down causing other NBA teams like the Lakers to lose interest in signing him this offseason?

Other teams with potential salary cap space like the New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards could join the Lakers in the trying to acquire DeRozan but with his performance in their first round series versus the Indiana Pacers, it’s possible that some of these teams are now looking past DeRozan and looking at other top free agents.

The biggest team among those potential DeRozan suitors are the Lakers. The L.A. team has struggled in recent seasons but with the retirement of Kobe Bryant, they have big shoes to fill in looking for their next franchise player and DeRozan, who is from Compton, California, could fill when he is playing like an All-Star.

However, DeRozan has struggled against the Pacers particularly against star forward Paul George. DeRozan has averaged 13.3 points per game lower than his 23.5 PPG average in the regular season. With his current struggles, it’s normal that NBA rumors of his value going down is going around the league.

Other free agents in the 2016 offseason and the players who will be part of the NBA rumors this summer are Kevin Durant, Andre Drummond, Mike Conley, Pau Gasol, Al Horford, Bradley Beal and Dwight Howard, among others in free agency.

The Pacers-Raptors series is tied at two-all and DeRozan can still come out like the best player in the best of seven series. If he manages to lead the Raptors to the next round, DeRozan’s value will again rise and NBA rumors of him being chased by other NBA teams this summer is expected.
