The NBA rumors linking DeMarcus Cousins away from the Sacramento Kings just won’t die. According to the latest speculations, the Denver Nuggets could be one of the possible destinations for Cousins if the Kings makes him available.
The 26-year-old All-Star center only got along with one NBA head coach in his time in the NBA, Michael Malone. The current Nuggets head coach would love to reunite with Cousins and Denver have the right assets to acquire him from the Kings.
Ryan Mccabe of NuggLove suggested a deal sending Jusuf Nurkic, Wilson Chandler, Kenneth Faried, a protected 2017 first-round pick from Memphis and the Nuggets own 2017 first rounder to Sacramento. In return, the Nuggets will receive DeMarcus Cousins and veteran Omri Casspi.
The Kings will get younger and they can finally start a new chapter while the Nuggets become a playoff contender. However, Sacramento’s main need is a guard which means they will likely want Emmanuel Mudiay, Gary Harris or Jamal Murray in a possible deal.
Nevertheless, it is a win-win for all the parties involve especially Cousins, who gets reunited with coach Malone. He will also be playing with Nikola Jokic, who has the potential to become a superstar. The Serbian big man dominated Cousins and Team USA during their match at the 2016 Rio Olympics, per Yahoo! Sports.
Cousins and Jokic will form a great frontcourt duo for Nuggets if ever a trade gets done. It should be noted that these are just NBA rumors at the moment but the Kings are expected to trade the two-time All-Star once he does not get along with new head coach Dave Joerger.
The Kentucky product is eligible to sign a contract extension with the Kings but NBA rumors in Sacramento points to Cousins becoming a free agent in 2018. The Kings will be better off trading him for assets rather than losing him for nothing.
