The Atlanta Hawks have a lot of decisions to make this offseason including if Al Horford deserves a max contract, and choosing between Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroder. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Hawks may not be re-signing Horford if they acquire Nerlens Noel from the Philadelphia 76ers.
Shams Charania of The Vertical reported on Thursday that the Hawks and Sixers are discussing a deal involving Teague and Noel. It should be noted that nothing is imminent at the moment as the talks are in the early stages.

The Sixers have been looking for a top-tier point guard for the past couple of seasons. They have a surplus of big men on their roster like Noel, Jahlil Okafor, Joel Embiid, probably Dario Saric, and Ben Simmons, who will likely be the first overall pick in the draft.
On the other hand, it makes sense for Atlanta to trade Teague now even though he has played great in the past several seasons. The Hawks a much younger point guard in Schroder, who has shown he’s ready to be a starter with a good season and an even better playoffs.
Teague is also set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season and it may be better for Atlanta to get something in return rather than let him walk for free. Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer noted in his report that Sixers shooting guard Nik Stauskas and/or small forward Robert Covington may be part of the deal.
Pompey mentioned that the Sixers tried sending Stauskas, Ish Smith and a late first round pick to the Hawks at the deadline for Schroder. Besides Noel, Philadelphia is also shopping Okafor, who has been linked with the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers.

If the Noel-Teague trade happens and the Hawks let Horford leave, they still have a good core of players with Schroder, Paul Millsap and Nerlens Noel. They could use their cap space to re-sign Kent Bazemore and add more role players.
The Sixers, on the other hand, will have an established leader, the first overall pick in the draft and possibly another lottery pick in exchange for Okafor. As for Horford, he will have many suitors such as the Lakers, Celtics, Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets.
